This is Adrift's most extreme, exhilarating and exciting package for taking on the mighty River Nile.

Extreme Rafting runs alongside our Full Rafting Packages; jump on board the 2 seater Croc with your very own guide. Your adventure starts just below the Bujagali Dam and entering the river at the renowned high flow ‘Jaws’ as our 1st rapid of the day, the Nile then beckons you further downstream.

Activity Description

Duration: 4-5 Hours (16 years and above)

This section of the river is pristine, the trees and natural riverine environment creates a beautiful and fast flowing experience, before we prepare you for the first grade 5 rapids of the day. After a short paddle we then have 2 motivating rapids called ‘Pyramid’ and ‘Giggitty Giggitty’. Soon after these introductory rapids you will be ready to conquer the rest the mighty Nile has to offer!

Our first Grade 5 rapid of the day is ‘Overtime’, which is a complex waterfall, with an exciting drop depending on the water levels of the day.

Rafting with Adrift you get so much more safety, fun, enjoyment and service. Our last rapid of the day is ‘Vengeance’ followed by lunch at Adrift Overland Camp.

Extreme Rafting FAQ's

What should I wear?

Full Piece bathing suits.

Light clothing, shorts and a rash vest would be ideal, but if not consider a long sleeve t-shirt as the sun on the river can be fierce.

Sun hat or cap (optional).

What should I bring?

We recommend you take a small bag with a towel and a change of clothes for the end of the day, this will be kept on our vehicle and meet you at the finish point.

Other items: Any medication you require and money for any optional extras.

Can I bring my camera?

We strongly recommend you leave your camera, jewellery and any valuables at home.

What if the weather conditions are not ideal?

We operate under all weather conditions.

It is summer all year-round in Uganda. The country straddles the equator which means there is no winter and no summer months and you can come at any time of the year. Temperatures in most parts of the country vary between 25°C and 30°C (77°F and 86°F) dropping only by 5°C overnight. Traditionally May and November are the wetter months in the country where morning cloud build – ups are followed by torrential rain and spectacular thunder and lightening shows.

Can I bring my children?

Our Extreme Rafting trip has an age limit of 16. We can take kids younger than 16, but for this option please refer to our Grade 3 option.

We spent 3 nights at River Club and thoroughly enjoyed out time on the Nile, the view from the rooms and the restaurant are amazing and we spent hours just hanging out watching the Nile below us, the fisherman were catching fresh fish that they bring to the kitchen and we ate the freshest fish we have ever eaten. The staff all come from the local village and they are some of the kindest and friendliest people we met in 3 weeks in Uganda. If you want to relax and enjoy the Nile without spending a fortune this is the place.
